Typing Orbit is an online typing test practice platform for Indian government exams. It gives you timed, exam-pattern typing tests for 35+ exams, including SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, RRB NTPC, Delhi and Allahabad High Court, DSSSB and District Courts, in English and Hindi (Kruti Dev and Unicode), with gross and net speed, word-by-word error marking and progress tracking. You can start free.
Most government typing tests need 25 to 35 words per minute. SSC CHSL needs 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi in 10 minutes. RRB NTPC needs 30 wpm in English or 25 wpm in Hindi in 10 minutes. SSC CGL's Data Entry Speed Test needs 2,000 key depressions in 15 minutes (about 27 wpm). Always confirm the exact figure in your official notice, and train 8 to 10 wpm above it.
The best practice is full-length timed tests on an exam-style screen. For SSC CHSL, practise 10-minute passages at 35 wpm English or 30 wpm Hindi with backspace restricted. For SSC CGL, practise the 15-minute Data Entry Speed Test measured in key depressions. Typing Orbit has separate SSC CHSL and SSC CGL categories set up this way.
Practise accuracy first, then speed. Do daily timed tests of 10 to 15 minutes, review which keys and words you get wrong, and drill those weak keys in short bursts. Typing Orbit's Speed Booster gives 1 to 5 minute drills and its analytics show your weak keys after every test, which is how most students climb past 40 and then 50 wpm.
Yes. You can type Hindi in Kruti Dev on a normal English keyboard, or in Unicode (Mangal), and switch between Hindi and English in the same account. The same timers and marking apply to both languages.
Gross speed is total keystrokes typed divided by 5, divided by minutes. Net speed subtracts a penalty for mistakes. Accuracy compares correct words or characters with everything you typed. Typing Orbit shows gross speed, net speed, accuracy and an error breakdown, and lets you choose the marking system your exam uses, including the Delhi High Court scheme.
The SSC CHSL typing test is 10 minutes (15 minutes for eligible PwD candidates). The SSC CGL Data Entry Speed Test is 15 minutes. Practise full-length passages so your speed holds until the last minute.
It depends on the exam software. RRB NTPC generally disables editing keys including backspace, and many SSC tests restrict corrections. Typing Orbit lets you turn backspace on or off so you can practise both ways.
Yes. You can take Typing Orbit's free typing test without signing up, and a free account includes free practice tests and typing lessons. Paid plans start at ₹149 a month and unlock all 35+ exams and unlimited tests.
Look for software built around Indian exam patterns: exam-wise passages, the same timer and backspace rules, Hindi in Kruti Dev and Unicode, gross and net speed, and error marking. Typing Orbit is built specifically for this and covers 35+ government exams.
Yes. Typing Orbit has categories for Delhi High Court, Allahabad High Court, Supreme Court, Rajasthan and Gujarat High Courts, District Courts, RRB NTPC and RRB Railways, each with exam-style passages and timers.
Start with the typing lessons, which go row by row (home row, top row, bottom row, numbers and symbols) and unlock one at a time. Once you can type without looking at the keys, move to timed tests for your exam.
Your exam date won't wait. Start today.
